UK MicroGeneration Windmill Growth Predictions

Date September 20, 2008

A new ‘Small Wind Systems UK Market Report‘ by the British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) predicts growth of 73% for 2009 in microgeneration windmills (less than 1.5kw).

The report shows that the number of microgeneration windmills installed in the UK is on track to increase from 2750 in 2007 to 6750 in 2008, an increase of 145%.

Given the previous increase and with increasing domestic fuel prices and growing awareness of windmills in the UK amongst the public, the figure of 73% for 2009 looks conservative.
