welcome to the forum.

Thanks for your post - I'm looking at getting some PV and solar water panels installed - and you have underlined how important it is to ensure that the onus is on the people installing the system to work together to get it to function at peak efficiency. The problem that i am seeing is that so many installers are jumping on the bandwagon who don't seem capable - and when you have different components being installed by different tradesmen, it's too easy for them to avoid responsibility after the event.

With your experience, what would you recommend other people considering microgeneration should do to help them avoid what happened to you?
