Did anyone else see the item on growing willow on a farm near Wetherby for use as a biofuel? (Jimmy Doherty's Farming heroes, BBC2, 9pm). i think it was 10 acres that had taken 3 years to grow.. and the farmer revealed that it was something like 2.5 hours of Drax consumption - quite thought provoking.
Foranybody considering the possible use of willow as a BioFuel, it looks like as part of the Wetherby project, various Universities did some analysis of
which varieties of willow provided the optimum biofuel yield. There conclusion was: 'The cultivar Ashton Stott gave considerably higher fresh and dry yields than Ulv, Jorr and Tora'
